The report can be ordered, run, and received all in the same day and can typically be made available to the person after a short wait. The fee may be paid in any manner except personal check, including by cash, by credit card, by money order, or by cashier's check.

For some businesses in the state of Oklahoma, pre-employment procedures require potential employees to obtain an OSBI background check and to bring the report with them when they are interviewed for the position.
